IB PYP Inquiry into Energy - How the World Works
IB PYP Inquiry into Energy - How the World Works
Welcome to the IB PYP inquiry world of physical science and discovery! THIS is inquiry! This is all about having the children think creatively and critically! This 6 week IB PYP transdisciplinary inquiry, with the theme of How the World Works, investigates the idea of how energy affects life. Through the concepts of scientific principles relating to energy, transformation and interdependence, we inquire into the central idea through skills-based activities that are designed to provide interactive, inquiry-based learning experiences. Making it easy for you, the experiments provided are designed to make the children think through the scientific method as part of the inquiry process, leading them to design their OWN experiments that will be tested and reflected upon, as the children demonstrate their progressive knowledge and understanding of the concepts within.
With over 160 pages of hands on activities, tons of science experiments, posters, lessons & reflection & assessment resources, this is a complete unit of inquiry, aligned with the IB PYP and aimed for 3rd to 5th grades. The lessons are suggestions as to how you could use the materials and resources created. You will find a combination of printable and digital resources within this complete packet.
As students learn about the scientific method, they are provided with structure and guidance to put their new knowledge and understanding into practice, using the design thinking process to plan, design and implement their own investigations. A very hands on, transdisciplinary approach, it is delivered with everything you need to facilitate this science-based inquiry. (UK & USA spelling included)
