IB PYP Unit of Inquiry: Identity & Heroes: Who We Are
IB PYP Unit of Inquiry: Identity & Heroes: Who We Are
We all need a hero! Within this IB PYP unit of inquiry you will find engaging, interactive activities designed around the concepts of identity, heroism and values through math, literacy, arts and crafts. Your students will be supported throughout this inquiry as they investigate the common traits of heroes across place and time, making connections with the Learner Profile from both a local and global context. Suitable for grades 2-4.
This is a trans-disciplinary unit study, with the theme of Who We Are, using the idea of heroes as the lens with which we inquire into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human. Every lesson is based around concepts conducive with the IB PYP with skills-based learning experiences.
Central Idea: Characteristics of heroes in various cultures throughout history help define individual beliefs.
The lessons are presented in a way that made sense to me as I was planning. Of course, you may use them in any order you prefer for your own group of children.
I have many complete units of inquiry in my store with a few listed below.
