A Bundle of IB PYP Reflection Journals for the Whole School
A Bundle of IB PYP Reflection Journals for the Whole School
These IB PYP Learner Profile Reflection Journals are designed to develop reflective thinking skills as well as review each child’s unique Learner Profile attributes. Since reflection is an ongoing part of the inquiry process and inclusive assessment, this is a great resource to maintain and reinforce the concept of reflection throughout our learning. With lots of hands on, engaging activities, it introduces and promotes the practice of self assessment and peer assessment, goal setting and taking action steps towards meeting those goals at an age appropriate level. There are 3 levels of Reflection Journals: one suitable for the early years, one for PYP 2 & 3 and another for PYP 4-6. The older levels are designed to be mostly self-directed. With the focus being on the Learner Profile, it develops a greater awareness in the children of their own Learner Profile, in addition to building better reflective thinking skills. UK and USA spelling included.
*Updated to include digital files for the 2 younger versions, including drag and drop where cutting and pasting may have been used with the printable version. *
Benefits include:
Higher level thinking skills
•Self assessment
•Goal setting
•Critical thinking skills
•Developing observational skills
•Reinforcing metacognitive thinking
•Problem solving skills
•Creative thinking skills
•Communication skills
This resource is designed with the language, skills and level of thought required being at appropriate levels, yet still develops those higher level thinking skills with lots of visible thinking required. It contains all of the Learner Profile attributes as well as alternatives. (thinker/global thinker, courageous/risk taker and perseverance for the MYP. ) You can staple each one into a booklet, with the front cover provided or simply copy the sheets as you wish and have the children file them in a binder, as their journal.
It is a great tool to use at any point throughout the school year but makes a great interjection for reflection at the beginning of the school year and the start of the calendar year.
It is designed to be used once a week, such as a Monday morning reflection or Friday afternoon reflection. There are enough activities that allow you to use it all year long or for a shorter, more intensive period with several reflections weekly. Each resource can be purchased separately, however, with this bundle you save!
