This early years IB PYP Learner Profile Reflection Journal is designed to develop reflective thinking skills as well as review each child’s unique Learner Profile attributes. This is a great resource to maintain and reinforce the concept of reflection throughout our learning.

With lots of hands on, engaging activities, it introduces and promotes the practice of self assessment and peer assessment, goal setting and taking action steps towards meeting those goals at an age appropriate level. With the focus being on the Learner Profile, it develops a greater awareness in the children of their own Learner Profile, in addition to building better reflective thinking skills. UK and USA spelling included. ( USA spelling can be found in the appendix)

Benefits include:

Higher level thinking skills

•Self assessment

•Goal setting

•Critical thinking skills

•Developing observational skills

•Reinforcing metacognitive thinking

•Problem solving skills

•Creative thinking skills

•Communication skills

This resource is designed for pre-K , Kindergarten and 1st grade. It contains all of the Learner Profile attributes as well as alternatives. (thinker/global thinker, courageous/risk taker ) You can staple it into a booklet, with the front cover provided, or simply mix and match, copy the sheets as you feel suitable for your students and have the children file them in a binder, as their journal.

It is a great tool to use at any point throughout the school year but makes a great interjection for reflection at the beginning of the school year and the start of the calendar year.

It is designed to be used once a week, such as a Monday morning reflection or a Friday afternoon reflection. There are 37 reflection activities that allow you to use it all year long or for a shorter, more intensive daily, 7 week period.

Digital file: This contains 31 of the 37 activities that have been adapted for digital use. Lots of opportunities for developing fine motor skills through annotating on screen, drawing on screen and drag and drop activities. Refer to the PDF file for lesson examples.
