Finally, explicit THINKING SKILLS for our youngest learners. This IB PYP write and draw packet will have your students writing in a fun and engaging way as they become adept with the sub skills within the IB PYP Thinking Skills.

•Observation

•Analysing

•Making connections

•Critical thinking

•Creative thinking

•Etc.

Through the concept of TRANSFORMATION/CHANGE children are asked to analyse shapes which become increasingly more abstract as the year progresses. Ideal for Kindergarten up to grade 2.

With 27 images, gradually moving from recognizable shapes to progressively more abstract markings, the children are challenged to think critically and creatively through the conceptual lens.

Great to use with:

•Focus concepts and skills within your units of inquiry

•Reflection activity

•In connection with picture books demonstrating thinking skills.

•Evidence of progressive skills development

•Self assessment of writing skills

•Encouraging student agency

Each sheet provides space for the children to illustrate their own example and then to write a sentence about their creation. An image related to key words is included for language support and to help students generate ideas when writing about their creations. The rubric included on each sheet encourages self-assessment.

An extra lined writing page has also been included at the end of the packet for differentiation, should they wish to write more. Just print this page on the back of any sheet to provide more writing space.

The printables are great for writing and literacy centers, independent work and also portfolios. The "Read, Draw, Write" style worksheet encourages students to read the words in the word bank, use them to create sentences to describe their drawings and to self-assess using the rubric too.
